The inhabitants of the Galapagos are survivors of a unsettled landscape, an volcanic archipelago 1000 kilometers away from the rest of the world. And because of their isolation from humans, both land and sea animals remain more or less fearless and unaffected by visitors. A trip to the Galapagos is the trip of a lifetime for most people. Many of the plants and animals that you will encounter cannot be found anywhere else, and nowhere are sea and land animals and birds more approachable. Snorkel or dive with the sea lions or commune with the iguanas up to you! On land you will find yourself watching your step, amongst all of Darwin's finches and iguanas, as well as nesting blue-footed boobies, sea lions and who knows what else. These islands are uniquely positioned in between 3 ocean currents, creating a climate unlike any other in the world. This is why, about one forth of the animals on the Galapagos are only found on these islands. Some of the projects we will help with are:
- Helping and visiting at the Charles Darwin Station
- Working on a project along with the National Park Galapagos
- Working with the people of Puerto Villamil in Isabela island
There are many opportunities in Ecuador & Galapagos for social involvement
and adventure + Including hiking, rafting, climbing and horse back riding,
visiting turtles in their natural habitat; have surfing lessons, etc….
